CMS Posts 2014 EHR Clinical Quality Measures
Beginning in 2014, the reporting of clinical quality measures will change for all providers in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive programs, CMS said in an Oct. 26 notice.
Clinical quality measures are processes and expected outcomes for patient care adopted for the meaningful use program. The Stage 2 final rule for meaningful use was published in the Sept. 4 Federal Register (77 Fed. Reg. 53,968) and requires providers to report on a minimum number of quality measures (see previous article).
Electronic health record technology certified for use in the program will have the capabilities to capture new quality measures data.
By 2014, all eligible providers and hospitals in the meaningful use program will be required to report on the new 2014 clinical quality measures criteria, whether they are in Stage 1 or Stage 2 of the incentive program.
