Bloomberg Law Announces Database of Cayman Islands Court Filings
Petitions Filed in the Financial Services Division of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands are Available Electronically Only on Bloomberg Law and the Bloomberg Professional Service
New York, July 20, 2011 –Bloomberg Law announces the first electronic database of petitions filed in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, Financial Services Division. Bloomberg Law and Bloomberg Professional service subscribers now have unlimited access to a database of those court filings, which are otherwise only accessible through manual retrieval at the courthouse on Grand Cayman Island.
The Cayman Islands is one of the world’s largest financial centers and home to major banks, hedge funds and insurance companies. The Financial Services Division of the Grand Court, which began operations in November 2009, was established to handle complex and high profile commercial disputes more efficiently.
“Dockets from the Cayman Islands are a significant resource for our clients and we are pleased to provide the first electronic access to an important court division in one of the key financial jurisdictions of the world. Court dockets are essential for managing legal cases and are also an important tool for staying competitive,” said Lou Andreozzi, chairman of Bloomberg Law.
Bloomberg Law Dockets’ unrestricted search engine gives subscribers access to an extensive database of federal, state and selected international dockets. The Cayman Islands joins Bloomberg Law’s expanding range of international docket coverage, which includes courts in the United Kingdom, European Union and Asia, as well as a database of complaints filed with the International Trade Commission.
